Matta is the design studio of Eva De Smet & Jan Vandekerckhove, dedicated to interior architecture, objects and the poetry in between. They embrace the former chapters of a place, nevertheless they rephrase its evolving course by adding a new typology of materiality, tactility and curiosity. For Studio Matta every home equals a particular rhythm, retreat and renaissance where light and darkness meet in the poetry of the people who reside it.

Both graduated as masters in interior architecture at Kuleuven faculty of architecture in Ghent, Eva & Jan are intriguingly exploring the concept of change. Their collective research and design process evokes in every object, installation or scenography a state of wonder yet sincere sanctuary, transcending an artistry of the now.
